Tacoma Power customers: heat pump rebates
- Up to $2,000. Tacoma Power lists $1,000 for an air-source or ductless heat pump (up to 4 units) and $2,000 for a variable-speed heat pump that replaces an electric forced-air furnace. (Tacoma Public Utilities: Heat Pumps)
- The installer has to be on Tacoma Power’s list. The rebate only applies when a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor does the work. Ask before you sign. (Tacoma Power: Find a Residential Contractor)
- Get three bids. Tacoma Power’s own advice: prices for similar equipment “can vary drastically,” so get at least three bids.
- Not sure you’re on Tacoma Power? Its service area covers Tacoma, Fircrest, University Place, Fife, parts of Steilacoom and Lakewood, and unincorporated Pierce County. (Washington L&I: City electrical permits & inspections) Elsewhere, check the name on your electric bill and see all South Sound rebates.
