Heat pump rebates in Tacoma, Olympia and Pierce County

Three programs cover most South Sound homes. Which one you get depends on the utility that sends your electric bill, and in Thurston County, on the installer you pick.

Tacoma Power

• Ductless heat pump, up to 4 units: $1,000. Five or more units: $650.
• Air-source heat pump replacing zonal or electric forced-air heat: $1,000.
• Variable-speed heat pump replacing an electric forced-air furnace: $2,000. Replacing non-electric heat or an existing heat pump: $1,000.
• The heat pump must be installed by a Tacoma Power Participating Contractor and meet the program’s efficiency specs.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE)

• Replacing electric resistance heat with a qualifying air-source heat pump (ducted or ductless): $1,500.
• Efficiency Boost, based on income: $2,400.
• Income-qualified customers moving from natural gas heat: up to $4,000.
• You must be a PSE single-family electric customer and use a PSE Recommended Energy Professional or Trade Ally. DIY installs don’t qualify.

Energize Thurston (Thurston County)

• $1,000 off Bryant or Carrier heat pumps, or a free air handler or indoor ductless head (value up to $2,285) with Daikin.
• Applied as an instant rebate through a Certified Installer, on top of the PSE rebates above.
• From October 2026, households under 120% of Thurston County median income can apply for help covering 80–100% of equipment and installation.
